Default Generic Model family and masking region

    Hi All,

here it is onde of Revit oddities...

I have a 2D generic model wall based family which is basically a 2d rectangle. I want this rectangle to hide the wall hatch pattern with a masking region.
The problem is the masking region seems to appear only if the istance is cut and hence not showing in elevation. The masking region boundary lines are set to GENERIC MODEL Projection.

Does anyone have a clue how to solve this?

From an elevation view in the family place an <invisible> model line from the reference level up approximately 1500 (5'). Revit will find this invisible line and if it intersects the cut plane of the view it will consider the family 'cut'. You can't have a family that only contains 2d geometry because there is nothing for Revit to cut.
