Exclamation Clash Detection only on sectioned area?

Hi everybody - first post here on the boards!

We're working on coordinating the MEP on a large hospital and we've broken the hospital into five different areas. I've created section views of each of the areas so that we can focus on the area that we're coordinating. Is there a way to run my clash batches only on the visible parts of the model? I don't want anything that's not included in my section view to be processed in the clash test. I'm currently spending a lot of time grouping clashes as "Out of Area" and I'm hoping there's something I can do to avoid this in the future.

    Thanks for your help!!

You'd probably be best by differentiating the different sectors somehow. Perhaps in the drawing name or layer names? You can also add a property set that you can manually type in a sector number or name.

Basically, you need something you can pull a selection set from so you can make a rule to say ignore any sets that have sectors 2, 3, 4, and 5 with you're clashing sector 1. Then a, 3, 4, and 5 when you're clashing sector 2. Something along those lines.
Give a man AutoCad, and he'll draw you a floor plan.
Give a man Revit and he'll build you a house.
Give Cadmama a couple of drinks and she'll have everyone singing Rockytop!

I'm working on a large hospital project and we had the designers put properties on their objects which denote location, like building, phase, level, system etc. Then we set up search sets (always search sets as these react to updates) and save searches by whichever level we want. These search sets are then run in the clash detective.

We have had exactly the same senario. I'm working on a hostpital seperated into 3 Zones. I have created a section for each Zone in RevitMEP and created an NWC for every service in each Zone. I then created a seperate Clash Test in navisworks ie Level 2 Zone A Elec vs Mech, Level 2 Zone B Elec vs Mech etc etc Hope that helps as it has worked well on this project.
