    Default soldier course at wall openings

    I am having trouble creating a soldier course that will occur at wall openings, but not at all wall openings. any help would be greatly appreciated

    are there windows or doors involved with your wall openings?

    well it is an exterior brick wall and the openings on the street level is a storefront wall type. I would like to have a soldier course above all of these and every other window in the brick wall on the second floor above needs a soldier course.

    Maybe a Wall Sweep? That could be a lot of work. How about a line-based generic model?

    hmm...wall sweep might be too cumbersome..but short of another way

    For the windows I'd suggest a sweep as part of the window family. That saves you the trouble of placing and managing individual sweeps. You can toggle it on or off so you only need the one family for the windows. The curtain wall is another story. Probably wall sweeps since they are only on the one level. If you wanted to break up the walls above the curtain wall into a different wall type you could create the soldier course as an integral sweep at the base of the wall. Probably not my first choice but I'd have to see the extents of what you need before I'd rule it out.
