    Default Seismic Design

Is there seismic design tutorial? I would like to know how the program generate seismic load and how to distribute the lateral seismic load to structural frames?

    Thanks,

    Hi Xu,

The program has several methods of generating seismic loads and unfortunately there is not an already prepared tutorial that I'm aware of. You will find that the help files for Robot are quite good and explain a lot of how the seismic loads are generated by the program. It supports many different codes for seismic load generation, some equivalent lateral force method, some based on spectral analysis using the natural frequencies determined by modal analysis as well as more advanced seismic analyses like pushover analysis to study ultimate behavior of a structure accounting for non-linear (plastic) behavior of the members.

I would recommend starting with the help files and going from there.

    Hope that helps,
