I'm working on a project with a diagrid. The diagrid spans 4 floors, so each diamond contains 4 windows. I created the diagrid as a generic model that consists of the left-side columns of the diamond, the beams at levels 2, 3, and 4, and the windows. Now we need a window type legend and a window schedule, which is where the trouble starts... previously, all geometry for this diagrid component was in one single family, no nesting. It all scheduled together, which means I'm counting one quarter of the windows. Each window has a few types that I was controlling with instance visibility parameters (glass, spandrel glass, louvered, casement, door, etc). So I decided to change the family: each window is its own family imported to the diagrid. Each window has the same glass, spandrel, louvers, etc attached to visibility parameters. However, if I keep the visibility parameters as instance, it doesn't read in the schedule when I switch it from casement to door for example, and I can place different configurations on my legend, because I can only place types.
How do I link my window types in my diagrid family so that I can switch them out in my project and get an accurate count and representation in my schedule and legend?!
(The family is over 2MB, which seems to be the limit to attach... what's people's favorite way to share files?)
