Autodesk 2007 and Express tools

Hello every, new here. I know there are several threads about the express tools and 2007 and I have searched and read through alot of them. However I was not able to find the issue I am experiencing. I am trying to add the Express Tools from add/remove programs and I get the following error message:

".Net is not installed, Audodesk Building Systems 2007.1 cannot be installed without this competent. See your system administrator for more information."

I am running windows 7 64bit so .net framework 3.5 is automatically installed. I have tried to installed .net framework 4.0 but still no solution. I have unchecked the 3.5 from windows components, uninstalled .net 4.0, rebooted, and re-added 3.5 still no luck.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Anyone know of a resolution?

probably because acad 2007 required dotNet 2.0?

I thought about that, but since windows 7 comes with 3.5 sp1, it also includes NET 2.0 with SP2 and .NET 3.0 with SP2 as prerequisite. So This means, I have the .NET Framework 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 plus a few post 3.5 SP1 bug fixes on Windows 7. They are OS components.

I even tried to installed .net 2.0 and I kept getting a message referred me to add/remove windows components.

It's probably due to the install of 2007 not being able to find the registry values for .net 2.0. Since you're on a 64bit system the registry is not as simple as it was on a 32 bit. And seeing 2007 was never intended for 64 bit, chances are high that such "faults" can happen.
