    Default Scalable Light Fixture Families

Summary: I want light fixture to have the option to be automatically scaled to view scale (same behavior as generic annotations).

Description: I want light fixture to have the option to be automatically scaled to view scale (same behavior as generic annotations).

For instance, a wall mounted sconce should be able to automatically scale with the (plan) view.

The Electrical Fixtures, Fire Devices, etc all have the ability to "Orient Annotation to View". This would be extremely useful with lighting fixtures as well. I am currently forced to include scaled symbols per scale with yes/no parameters to control the scale of the annotation. This is NOT useful. Not all light fixtures are shown on plan as the true scale, some are annotation.

Agree, unfortunately few electrical items seem to make it high on the AUGI Wish List, I assume its because so many EEs have been forced to "fake" Revit and just aren't using it yet.

You can create a Generic Annotation and embed it into the Light Fixture Family. This works well with ceiling mounted fixtures.

However, when it comes to wall-mounted light fixtures, the embedded Generic Annotation does not display on plan View. This can be demonstrated simply with the OOTB Duplex Receptacle Family. Place an instances on a wall and the Generic Annotation shows correctly. Now edit the Family and change its Category to Lighting Fixtures and watch the symbol vanish.

There is a way to get scalable wall-mounted light fixtures! Create a new Family using the "Lighting Fixture wall based" template. Draw a simple box so there is some kind of model element. Start a new Project, create a Wall, and place an instance of this Family on that wall. Save this Project somewhere. Start another new Project and link the previous Project into it. Use Copy/Monitor to create a Copy of that Family in this Project. This will convert the Family to a face-based Lighting Fixture which DOES display Generic Annotations in Plan View! Use this are a starting point for your wall mounted lighting fixtures.
