Default Help with Corrupted CAD file

    Hi there,

This is the first time I have ever posted but I have use AUGI for years for answers to my many questions.

I had a Fatal Error yesterday afternoon (Unhandled Exception Error) and the file I have been working on for 8 months is now unable to be recovered.

Even though I had the Autosave set @ 5 minutes it didn't create a .SV$ file.

It did give me the option to create a recover file before exiting.

However, after that "recover file" goes through the recovery process fine, it even says it was able to be recovered, and then as the drawing reappears on the screen.....I get a brand new Fatal Error.

I have attempted to ESC out before regenerating after the recovery with no results.

I have attempted to insert this drawing as a block into a new drawing with no results as well.

I have an older version of this file and I can go back to about 8 hours ago and get that much of my drawing back but I would really like to get this file recovered.

    Any suggestions?

    I am using ACAD 2012 stand-alone version....Windows 7.....Dell Precision Workstation....

Thank you in advance for your time.

(The file is almost 6megs so I can't post it here, however, I would be very happy to email it to you if you think you can help.)

Did you try attaching as an XREF and bind as insert?

    Just tried it but.....

    No joy......

It says the file needs to be recovered before it can be attached.

Unfortunately, "Recovering" the file just leads to another Fatal Error (Unhandled Exception Error)

I have exhausted all of my bag of tricks from 17 years of CAD usage.

I am beginning to admit defeat here...

Maybe someone from Autodesk has some special VooDoo that they could use on this file but I'm afraid it is out of my hands at this time....

Anyone from Autodesk reading this Forum??

    Thanks....

I could try recovering it. email me. You might also see if you can find the *.ac$ version of it.

My company has a "shadow copy" where we can retrieve previous versions, perhaps your IT group does something similar?
