How to change the order of material

I've been working with inventor for awhile now and feel pretty comfortable. A problem I'm having currently is trying to figure out how to place items in the model in specific order so that it shows up in the order I want in the drawing. Its hard to explain but I'll try and give an example.

When I place items in the model in order of 1 2 3 4, it shows up in my drawing parts list as item 1234. If I ended up changing item 1, and replaced it with something else it seems to eliminate item 1 and makes the new piece #5 so now I'm showing 2345. How can I change these item numbers in the model to show the order I want them showing in the drawing? Is it possible to change each item/part to a designated order so I can list it in the appropriate order on the parts list?

Easy-peasy: In your assembly, open the "Bill of material" in the "Manage" tab. Select the row you want to change using the grey square at left. Then drag-n-drop the line to where you want i to be. The drawing BOM should reflect the order which you selected.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

If you want to do it in the drawing, double-click on the BOM, and apply the same method. When you close the BOM edit window, right-click on it and select "Save Edit Overrides to BOM". This will effectively modifiy your assemby BOM to reflect your preferred BOM order. Talk about efficient communication !
