Default Multiple spaces in the same area

Is it possible to somehow have multiple enclosed spaces in the same area? We have created spaces based on the archtitect's rooms (not a problem) but we would like to sort of define an enlarged area (multiple spaces/rooms) that would be used for our Techonology department. What they'd like to do is define areas that are served by the different telcomm closets so they can quickly perform their data drop counts to make sure they aren't overloading a closet. We *could* create a parameter for the spaces and tell it which closet they "belong to", but an enlarged area would be so much easier because if the architect deletes/adds rooms we may not for one reason or another, pick up the change. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to handle this?

    Matt

I don't think you can create a larger space that includes other spaces, that sounds more like a Zone. I think a Zone will work for what you're looking for.

But the HVAC guys use zones. They wouldn't want the technology guys messing around with their zones. Sounds like we'll have to stick with project parameters and filters to accomplish what we want to do.

Ah I didn't realize Zones were already being used. Could an Area plan do what you're looking for? You can sketch some area separation lines and add some parameters. Just throwing ideas out there.

Unfortunately you can't create a schedule based on data devices within an area plan.

(at least nothing that I've seen)

You can use space separation lines to subdivide one larger space, but you can't have overlapping spaces with different boundaries. I'd suggest using the space separation lines, then naming the spaces "Room Name A, B, C, etc."
