Default Aligning center point of circle and changing its radius

    Hey Guys,
I want to pin the center of an arc to a reference line/plane and also have the option to change its radius. I can change the arc radius which will move the reference line too but when i pin the the center of the arc to that reference line, i can not change the arc radius. Kindly see attached file and thanks in advance.

    Hello Amr,

Welcome to AUGI. Looking at your family, you need to constrain the center of your arc to the reference lines. Easiest way to do this is to use the Align (AL) Command, first selecting the reference line/plane, then selecting the center mark of the Arc. Your labelled radial dimension will control the arc's radius.

    I hope this helps,
    Jeff S.

    Hello Jeff,
Thanks for your reply, I've already aligned the center of the arc to the reference plane but when i change R value, it makes an error. the attached file after locking the center of the arc, kindly try to change R value and see the error.

    Regards

    Amr,

When I tried this yesterday it worked directly from your file, this morning not so much. Although starting from scratch, I was able to quickly get it to work. Personally, I like to use reference planes over reference lines, depending on the family. Anyways, I created a short video demonstrating how I approached this. The file is saved as a zip to allow me to upload it to AUGI. Download it, extract it, watch it, and ask more questions if you need clarifications.

    Cheers,
    Jeff S.

    Hello ljupadhyay,

Sorry for the delay in responding, I haven't checked the families forum in a few weeks. I use a product by Techsmith called Camtasia Studio for video capture/editing/production. They also have an product called SnagIt which I have installed, and use for image & text capture. There is a video capture component to SnagIt, but I prefer Camtasia.

    Cheers,
    Jeff S.
