    Default Rename Options

Hi all and Happy new year!

Can somebody please tell me why my Sheet Set Manager will not allow to rename the layout and drawing file to match the sheet title?
These options are shown disabled in the "Rename and Renumber Sheet" box.

No other users have the files open.
    No read-only issues.
Everybody gone from the office, only me here and tried re-starting AutoCAD 2011 but still no joy.

    Thanks
    Shoey

Are they also grayed out in the Properties dialog (for a sheet)?

I know the Rename drawing file part will be grayed out if the sheet is open, but the Rename layout top toggle box should be available AFAIK.

You mention that 'no other users' have the drawing open .. does that mean that _you_ have it open? if so, that's why the option is grayed out -- SSM can't rename the file when it's open.

Generally, when I'm going to be doing a rename operation, I'll open the cover/index sheet, and close everything else.

But it can rename the layout while the sheet is open - so not sure why that is unavailable....

    Hi and thanks for replies.

I can confirm that yes, they are also greyed out in the properties dialog box of the sheet.
I have no sheets open while this problem is occuring. Just an empty drawing (not part of sheet set) and the SSM.
All my other SSM are not having this problem. Rename and Renumbering works fine with my other SSM.

Also this problem occurs on another users PC.

    Thanks

Interesting -- it seems to be acting as though another user has that sheet open on another 'puter. Try closing all CAD applications, and browse to the folder the .dst file is in, and look for a DS$, or for that matter any file that has a .dssomething extension and the same name as the sheet set dst file. I think that it only uses a .dst and .ds$, but am not 100% sure.

If there are any, delete them, then fire up acad and your empty drawing, openthe sheet set , and see if it will work now.

Good suggestion but removing the .ds$ file(s) did not work.

The .ds$ is just a backup of the .dst file.
AFAIK - there are no lock files since this is handled by the O/S.

Take a look at your SSM palette, in the drop-down box where your sheet set name is listed.
Is there a lock icon like this?

    lock2.png

If you right-click on a sheet and choose Rename and Renumber, then you _should_ get a lock icon, but it shouldn't be there any other times.
More info on that can be found here.

No lock icon showing where sheet set name is located in SSM.
Does appear when I right-click and go to rename and renumber.

Thanks for the link on the icons. I was aware of the lock icon, but not the colour indicators.

    Regards
