Default this pipe type needs a segment and size range assigned

Some families brought into Revit MEP 2013 (Building Design Suite Ultimate) are displaying a dialog box (one I've not seen prior to this release) when in the family editor.

When selecting a nested part, such as a coupling that is always attached to the ends of an elbow, Revit launches the following message.

"This pipe type needs a segment and size range assigned. Open the Routing Preference for this pipe type and specify a segment and a size range."

Choosing close allows passage to go on and edit. However these fittings don't act correctly in the project which is what prompted editing in the first place.

I'm not seeing a way to edit "routing preferences" from with the family editor. This would make more sense from within the project, which doesn't seem to make an impact.

    Any ideas on this one?

Default Re: this pipe type needs a segment and size range assigned

I also ran into this error message, it was really confusing as to what it was asking for. The way I fixed the problem was actually under "Type Properties" of the pipe type, not sure if you will have to do this in your Project or Family, probably both.

    - Click "Type Properties" on the pipe type.
    - Under "Segments and Fittings" the only option should be "Routing Preferences", click "Edit"
    - The first category should be "Pipe Segment"
    - This was totally empty for me
    - Select the type of material you want to assign for the pipe
    - Select both the "Min. Size" and "Max. Size" of pipe you would like to use on this type
    - Error should go away and you should be able to select all the proper pipe sizes

For some reason it seems like all the standard pipe types didn't get a material and size assigned to them out of the box, don't know why.

    Hopefully this helps.
