So in AutoCAD (I know, bad thing to start with), we have a block for which we place "over" our 2d sound attenuators. It is basically a box that we can trace over the SA and it puts in the attached pattern at the right length and width, like a parametric element in Revit. Well, we have a Revit project with lots of sound attentuators and the Project Engineer wants this "pattern" displayed. The drafter doesnt know how to say no or not possible, so as the BIM Manager, I need to come up with a way to do it.
Ive tried creating a fill pattern, adding a filter for the SA and adding a pattern to that filter and it doesnt work right. Works for walls and such, but not a piece of mechanical equipment. Either the pattern is messed up (creating using hatch22 which is a pain to use) or doesnt rotate with element even when "align with element" is selected for the pattern. I cant create a parametric fill pattern in the family either, Ive tried that as well. There isnt even an option.
Ive also tried creating a pattern using a model fill pattern, attaching that to a material and assigning that material to the family but it doesnt display in plan.
The drafter has created a detail group, copied that detail group around and modified it for each and every SA, which there are many and of different sizes. Not very ideal as it seems very tedious. There has GOT to be a better way to do that and I just cant think of it.
