    Default Auto CAD Copy/Paste Problem

    Hi Good Morning All,

    I am using ACAD 2012,

    1. I tried to copy a line (or something else) from one drawing ( which is from our main contractor) and pasting to my drawing - nothing happend.

    2. So i use purge command, when the dialogue box open, i saw a lot blocks stating with * ( almost 23000 blocks!!!!). Please see the attached picture.

    3. Then i saved and closed the drawing (I did not purge).

    4. I reopened the drawing and use purge command again, when the dialogue box open, the blocks starting with * disappears !!!!!

    5. Then I purge the drawing, saved and closed it. and tried to copy/paste again...it worked for just first time.

    6. I tried to copy/paste another element..but nothing happened. (Now i have to do another sequence of operations which described above!!!!)

Can anybody please suggest some solutions.

    Thanks in advanc

First do an audit on the drawing from your main contractor, you're probably bringing in the problems with the copy. Have you had the same problem using two in house drawings?

I've run into a similar thing before, except it would be my own drawings; for whatever reason you select one item or one type of item and instead the entire drawing wants to come over. Usually a simple restart fixes the problem.

    Try this:
Save a copy of the source drawing then purge the copy of source drawing.
Then copy the object which you want from the drawing your target drawing.
    Hope this helps.

Co-worker had here similar issues with his own drawings. He couldn't copy anything from certain drawings to another ones. Everybody else was able to copy objects from same drawings. Only solution we found to this issue was to reset co-workers Autocad profile. If I recall correctly problem might reoccur maybe once but AC worked nice a long time after reset.
