    Default Another grid head question..

    Hey all,

First off I've read lots of threads and in a few of them people mention that this might be a limitation of the software itself, however here goes.
I've successfully created a own grid head in the project I'm working on right now (our client has requested a unique way of naming the grid lines).
In X/Y directions the grid name is about 7 letters long which calls for oval shaped grid head containing the text.
In plan views it looks just as it should, horizontal text in the horizontal direction and a 90 degree rotation in the other axis (correctly wrapped by the oval grid head).
However in section views, the text won't rotate no matter what I try, the grid head itself though, is rotated correctly. Any suggestions? Has anyone successfully displayed rotated text in a section view?
Btw I've already created two different grid head types, one for each axis. I'm working with Revit 2013

    Thanks
    Andreas

Under Grid Head Properties, try checking "rotate with components", and "keep readable".

Just a couple of quick ideas--maybe you can post a small file containing your custom grid head?

Hi Cliff and thanks for the fast reply, I've been trying to experiment with these parameters before without any success. As mentioned before the text rotates correctly in plan views but not in section views, so the problem lies probably not in the family but the section view itself.
I've attached the family used for rotated text in a plan view (X-axis)

Sorry for not getting back to you--been very busy on a project.

Sadly, I do not think this is possible, at least with "out-of-the-box" Revit tools.

Perhaps a guru who can use the API, or a custom 3rd party add-in could solve this?

I had thought that using custom parameters would work, but I could not find a way to make a label (the text in the grid bubble) rotate with a parameter.
