Default 3ds max error importing Revit file (FBX file is empty)

I am new to 3ds max. I am trying to link a 2012 revit file into 3ds max design 2013. I went to import revit file and chose the view i want to import. It seems to go through all the loading phases, but at the last second I receive an error saying: FBX file is empty. Do you want to attach anyways?

When I click yes nothing appears on screen. When I go to manage links it shows there is a file attached, but it is nowhere to be seen. Any ideas?

I also tried to export the FBX file and import it that way, and got the same message. Am I missing something?
