    Default symbolic cutback for glulams

I am sure this is a very basic, but I it has me stumped. When placing glulam beams in plan they aren't obeying the symbolic cutback setting. Is there a separate setting for glulams or do I have to tweak the glulam family (it is the stock family that comes with Revit)

are you using coarse view setting...? my stock glulam families work OK.
symbolic cutback only works in coarse view.
Also check if beams are at same elevation, symbolic cutback and beam join does not work correct if elevation varies.
