Default Maybe I'm not wired for this

Ok, I can survive, only on the knowledge that there are other (more) intelligent people out there who can't grasp simple concepts..
I just struggle with the cui loading , cui customizations, enterprise, etc, etc, etc. I will try to start from the beginning, with building a main customization menu. I start with a new file, and I TRANSFER my existing custom workspace to it. This copies all of my commands, macros, toolbars, pallets, panels, and tabs. I then save this as “blah blah MAIN.cui”. I then go back to cuiload, and unload MEP, then load only this menu. I check to see if any other menus are loading with it. No. I check to see if there are any partial customization files loading. No. I then start another new menu just called “blah blah.cui”. Now, I will get an error saying it can’t find blah blah.cui, and I ignore this and start the cui customization tool anyway. All I do here is create a workspace-with a different name than the one in blah blah main. Now what do I do? Do I load blah blah main, and then blah blah with cuiload? Do I make blah blah main my main customization file, and set MEP.cui as the main enterprise file under options? Do I need to transfer stuff from my 2012 menus into blah blah in order for it to work with blah blah main? In the customization interface, I see blah blah load under two partial customization pulldowns-one under blah blah main, and one under MEP. Do I unload the blah blah menu from under blah blah main, since I can’t under MEP?
As you can see, I don’t get this...

It sounds like you have to support AutoCAD MEP but you also want to create your own workspaces. Simple, so far. Now for some questions:
    1. Do you also need to create your own macros?
    2. Do you need to support multiple users?
    3. If you are supporting multiple users, will they just use your content or will they also create their own macros?

    Question #1 Yes.
    Question #2 Yes.
Question #3 Yes, they should have the capacity to create their own without wiping out either our company macros or MEP....?

Ok, that's what I thought. Here is the only way I've found to accomplish this:
    1. Use the CUI editor to create a new CUIx named Company using the Transfer tab.
    2. Exit the CUI editor.
    3. In Options, make Company the Main CUIx.
    4. Open the CUI editor again.
    5. Attach MEP.cuix as a partial to Company. Do NOT attach Acad.cuix! That's a sure way to hose the interface.
    6. Create the desired worksets. Do NOT transfer worksets from MEP because that also transfers elements
    7. Save changes.
    8. Use the Transfer tab to create a new blank CUIx named User.
    9. Close the CUI editor.
    10. In Options, make User.cuix the Main CUI and Company the Enterprise CUI.

There are many other minor details but that's the gist of it.

Here's an AU course handout that I found to be very helpful when first starting to learn these concepts :

LOL, I wondered if I should post that. I'm glad people have found it to be useful.

No worries; I've referenced your course handout(s) to others in multiple forums in the last few years... Always helpful, and well received.

BTW, the handout and Robert's comments are vary helpful. He explains things well in the handout. How did I miss this class?
