Default Is there a Keyboard Shortcut to Toggle a Specific Category?

I would like to be able to turn a specific category on or off with a single keyboard shortcut, for example to show/hide reference planes or sections, etc. each with different shortcuts.

Does anyone know if this is possible. I have done many searches online, but have found nothing.

Revit 2013 (sorry, year drop-down did not appear above title field)

We if you click on the big "R" in the upper left hand corner you can pick options. There you will see under Configure "Keyboard Shortcuts" Attachment 89356

Then you can assign shortcuts to most commands availible in revit.

So for example if we wanted to toggle the Sections or the Scope Box categories what shortcut would that be?

I don't *think* you'll be able to do what you want, because the commands for which Revit allows you to create shortcuts don't allow additional parameters. You'd probably have to resort to a programmed solution.

Sure... programmed solution will work for me. Many add-ins provide this functionality and much more, but I really just want this option. Does anyone know of a guide that will walk you through creating a macro or something to be able to do this and set the shortcut???

Once again, I'm not looking for the Add-Ins that do this such as CGS Revit Tools (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rqp1kVCrxyo) or others. I'm looking for something like these programming tips but don't really know how to implement them...

Default keyboard shortcut to Hide Category in a view is VH
Select one of the elements of the type you want, type VH and all elements of that category will be turned off.
HC will apply a temporary hide category to the view.
To do this for multiple categories you'll need to select each category one by one.

Yeah thanks, I was aware of the HC shortcut, but you can't turn it back on without going to the VG window.

Once again, I'm looking for a simple feature... toggle a specific category with a keyboard shortcut. Toggle meaning on and then off.

You might want to go at this in another direction. As an old cad man I love my keyboard shortcuts as much as the next, but the way I do something similar is to setup view templates. You can preset the view settings anyway you want.

Setup the standard one you want to work with and then ones that have the objects turned off/on as you need.
Then its just a matter of switching the view template in the properties with a couple clicks.

I know it would be more convenient with a key command but its a close second. In fact it has a lot of possibilities. With the templates you can completely change the entire way you model looks (colors, linetypes, links, etc...) with just a couple clicks and bring it back again just like that. And you are not limited to just one command.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm very familiar with View Templates and unfortunately that will not work. I'm not sure if I agree with you that it's a close second though.... This post is really about trying to accomplish the main question. I appreciate all the other suggestions, but it's not relevant to this post.

I'm pretty amazed that such a simple functionality request is practically non existent unless you go with a paid plugin?
