Cool How to you create a timeline in your drawings?

That is to say, we have a project with three phases and would like to show each phase using different display settings. Original historic building, old addition, demo, new work. We can't seam to be able to show each phase with a different linetype/hatch.

Ultimately, what we would really like to to is turn off the wall hatch for the original building but leave it on for the next two phases and have the walls half toned for the first two phases but normal for the latest.

On a similar note, we have a job that needs Existing, Existing not in contract, Demo, and New. We would like to be able to define "In Contract" regions, and "Not in Contract" regions which would let us control the visibility of each separately. In Contract would have medium or fine detailing (depending on the sheet) and Not in Contract would always be course.

This would also be useful to us for tenant build out projects where we have Base Building (Not in Contract, NIC), Demo and New.

Play with the phase filters & graphic overides & you should be able to achieve what you want, by setting up some custom phase filters.

As far as controlling visibllity with phases, you can if the phase you want not to see is after the phase you view is set to.

You might be better off to use worksets to control visibility of "in contract" and "not in contract" stuff.

Phase filters and graphic overrides will get you most of the way there, but you still can only display 4 types in a single plan (Existing, Demo, Temoporary, and New). Take out existing and temporary since you don't want to be domolishing everything, and you only have existing and new.

The best solution that I can come up with is using overlayed plans. Create one plan in the "old addition" phase using a phase filter (which you will probably have to create that shows existing and new construction, both overridden. Then make another plan that is set to "show demo and new" in the "new work" phase. Overlay the plans on a sheet and you will have all the representations you need. The only problem is the things that are demolished will show up as new on the first plan, so there is conflicting info. As long as you drag the plans onto the sheet in order of chrononology I think you should be ok...

See attached file for an example.
