    Question Double Angle Hanger

Can anyone help me. I am trying to create a double angle hanger. I know I need to create a new family in the structural column catalog. I tried using a w-flange family as a starting point and saving it as another family. Is this the right way to go. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

If you could provide a sketch of what your hanger looks like, how you would like to flex it dimensionally, and what it's attaching to (column?).

    Maybe then someone can help.

Its 2 angles back to back, connecting a stringer to a steel beam above. The only flexibility I need is to change angle sizes. I would provide a sketch if I knew how to post in in the message (lol) I am fairly new to this.

Try using the structural - complex & trusses template. It's a straightforward unhosted template.

If you get in a jam, holler. I'd help you out more, but I'm snowed in at home, & the license is at work... Can't wait for spring!!

Is there a way I flex the height of the hanger using this family? I forgot to mention it before.
    Thanks for your help.

Where are you snowed in (state)?

    Yes,

Go to an elevation view in the family. Draw a horizontal reference plane. Run a dimension from the reference level to the ref plane, and assign it a parameter. Then constrain any solid geometry you create to that plane.

Your other choice is to construct the solids at the reference level. Then when you place an object, there will be a factory installed parameter called elevation & you can adjust it there.

    Maine.
