Can you create a plan view that only shows the walls (using filters), and then use that view as an underlay?

The ability to control graphics of an underlay is apparently a feature in 2014.

Even better...You can isolate the walls of the underlay within the one view.

For example: by creating a filter for all categories except Walls and creating a new custom Project Parameter to be used as a Filter Rule. You can call this Project Parameter "Level", make it instance and text, check all categories, and check OK. Now you can Filter By: "Level", equals, "Ground" (for example). Apply this filter and add it to the Visibility Graphics for your First Floor and uncheck the visibility tick box. Then select all families on the Ground Level (inc/exc walls) and type "Ground" in the parameter called "Level". Now your First Floor plan should only display the walls of the Ground Floor underlay.

No need to create a separate plan view to align and realign, clutter up your browser, and use up memory.

Perhaps I am not understanding the function of Project Parameter and Visibility Graphics.

The custom Project Parameter is simply used as a parameter which is common to all families (except walls in this case), of which there is otherwise no default parameter. WallUnderlay_Filter.PNG

We can use this parameter to identify which families we want to filter. WallUnderlay_FamParameter.PNG

The Visibility Graphics is where you add the filter to the view and toggle its visibility or graphic overrides. WallUnderlay_VG.PNG
