    Unhappy roof problem

I keep getting a error from Revit when i try to create a hipped roof on a 57' x 46' building. I can make it with gables on two end but not with hips. Any suggestions?

Are your plate heights all the same? What pitches are you using? Same all around?

A screen shot would be helpful.

the plate heights are all the same. The pitch is 4/12. however even with 6/12 it is an issue. I am able to generate a roof with gables at 2 ends but not with all hips.

doesn't make sense, try a new project, click roof by footprint draw four sides and make sure they are all slope defining. Are you doing the roof as a footprint roof? Or extrustion? If you are using extrusion then you would only get a gable.

did you try just deleting the roof and starting over. please show us a screen shot of your roof and its sketch lines. One other thing to try is to pick a diff. roof type, maybe there is a problem with your roof structure. I'm just guessing.

Although you may be embarrassed to share....your 'user-error' might help someone else not make the same mistake in the future.

I would love to tell you what mistake was made, unfortunately i can't. My boss was the one doing the drawing and kept getting the errors. So i finally got tired hearing him complain about the roof issue and I recreated the drawing on my computer and it worked. I think he just unknowingly change a setting.
