    Default Detail references

When referencing a detail you can have Revit add text to the lower corner i.e. TYP. or SIM.

Does anyone know how to have one detail callout reference a detail as TYP. in one spot and then SIM. in another?

I have made a reference type for TYP. and then duplicated the type naming it SIM., but when I assign the type to the flag that is referencing the detail, Revit assigns the same type to all the references (whether it be TYP or SIM) and not for the specific flag that I am placing at that time. So I can't have a flag for the typical condition and then a separate flag for SIM or OPP. or any other condition I want to denote.
