Default Smaller program file size? HAH yeah right!

Anyone know why the huge discrepancy between the file size reported by Subscription Center for the RAC 2014 download, vs. what is shown in the Download Manager? SC says 2.6 GB. I was like "WOW they actually made the file smaller than 2013's 3.0 GB!" Not. DM says the file is 5.29 GB.

And then DM says 16 minutes remaining at 16 Mb/s, which should only be 2 MB/s, which means there should be more like 40 minutes remaining. Seems like someone somewhere doesn't know how to calculate this stuff.

Just finished downloading at 8:40 AM CST. So it looks like the reported download rate was probably correct, but the time remaining shown was WAY off.

And it's a true 5.29 GB according to the folder properties.

Just downloaded Autodesk Building Design Suite Premium 2014 (subscription). 58.5GB!

14 hours to download and install - very, very painful

On a similar note, I just copied my Revit 2013 template file (custom residential with doors/windows/wall types) over to my 2014 Revit folder. Opened the 2013 file w/Revit 2014 and saved to 2014.

    2013 file size: 107.592 MB

    2014 file size: 74.489 MB

I believe this is a file size reduction >25%. Impressive!

I don't know what (major) issues are related to 2014 as yet, so I'm skeptical of converting in-progress projects at present. I will say, after experimenting for a day being curious, the rendering material selection process is a HUGE time saver.

I did experience the ribbon issue with 2013. Installed SP1 and SP2, problem solved. I understand ArchVision will be releasing, in the coming weeks, a new ACM fix that allows RPC drag-n-drop for 2013.

A template that is saved to a new file name or location can also see a significant size reduction, if you typically just overwrite with every change.

It's just because you did a Save As which automatically compacts the file. If you did a Compact File operation on your 2013 template, in 2013, you'd probably see a similar file size reduction.

I just got my Thumb Drive late last week.
What I'm wondering is how they managed to fit a 58 Gig download onto a 32 Gig thumb drive ?
    What's missing?
Or, conversely, why didn't Autodesk zip up the download?

uhh our Design Suite Premium 2013 on USB stick is around 20 GB. I highly doubt 2014 is 58+ GB.

The sizes reported on the Subscription download site are rubbish.
