    Default Exporting to CAD

    Hi

I am trying to convert over a Revit project to a certain CAD standard we need to use....ie they want Electrical fixtures etc on a certain layer name/colour etc.

Luminaries/wiring is transferring over great as blocks, but electrical fixtures etc are going on a general text layer as lines (ie exploded)

does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks

Your electrical symbol families are probably using Generic Annotation nested families for the plan views.

In the nested Generic Annotation family, using Object Styles, create a sub-category for the symbol linework. As an example, we give the sub-category the same name as the Autocad layer we want to map: E-POWR-DVCE.

Then in the Export Options, under Annotation Categories > Generic Annotations, map the sub-categories to the layers.

AFAIK, the annotations will explode to individual lines but at least they'll be on the correct layer.

lines from symbols (an annotative line that shows in plan) will export as generic lines instead of the category of device it should be on. families that show the actual model linework on the drawings (like light fixtures and mechanical gear) will export to a layer named after their category, but things with symbol lines won't. I haven't found a way to fix it
