Default adding a profile to a roof system

Is it possible to add a profile to a layer in a system family so that its orientation is correct when you cut sections? I am thinking of a roof system using metal deck. no mater which way I cut the section, the steel roof deck only appears in a side profile, never in cross section showing the flutes. This is driving my boss nuts and in turn he is driving me nuts. I would like to apply it to the family and have it automatic, and not have to add the cross section to each section detail.

To use roof deck profile on roof family is on my wish list for future release of Revit. for now you can try to use a floor family with roof deck profile and control your deck span direction to see the proper cross section of deck flutes. You will have to use separate boundary areas to control deck span direction in double pitched or hip roof. a bit of a pain for complex sloped roofs.

I was afraid that was the case. Thanks for the tip with the floor family...i had a similar thought, but wasn't sure how it would behave with the slope.

you can apply slope in one direction along one edge of floor same as roof element. also you can warp the floor surface.
another tip to use the added roof elements fascia and gutter on floor element, add model line along the floor element edge,
you can not add fascia or gutter to normal floor element edge.
also you can make a special profile for floor slab edge, to add roof edge angles or other shapes.
