Default Retain current values of Schedule cells when changing a Schedule Key parameter value back to (none)

Summary: I wish I could change a Schedule Key parameter value back to (none) without the Revit Schedule losing all of the implied parameter values for that row.

Description: Schedule Keys are great. But what would make Schedules even better is clarified in this example: I have 20 Classrooms. During the DD Phase, I apply my Schedule Key values to my Room Finish Schedule to populate the cells quickly and efficiently. During CD's, the Interior Designer decides that only one of the Classrooms needs to have the North Wall Finish changed to PTD-4 instead of the standard PTD-1. To do this, I change the Schedule Key value from CLASSROOM back to (none), but I wish all of the current values stayed as they were *instead of being cleared), and then I could use the drop down (or type in any text) to modify the North Wall Finish value for that Room and be done, instead of having to re-input every value that was being controlled by the Key.
