Question Turning off elements in linked file also turns off elements in host model

Have been having this problem with my view templates. Whenever I try to turn off elements such as text found in linked arch model, my mep equipment in my host file also turns off? I've done an audit and have replaced local copies several times, but nothing seems to work. I've recently found a workaround by creating a new view to start over, but this is very time consuming. Has anyone come across this?

    Welcome to AUGI!

Can you elaborate a little more on your situation and your process? How are you going about turning off the linked model's text? When you say your MEP equipment gets turned off, do you mean that those entire Categories get turned off, or that those elements just aren't visible, anymore? Also, what release of Revit are you using?

I have come across occasions where views get corrupted somehow. The only way to fix it is create a new view as you mentioned. To save time you can create a new view and then copy annotations, view regions, etc. over to the new one before deleting the old. Using "Aligned to current view" when copying usually lets the annotations tag the correct elements.
