AutoCAD is not our main CAD package so it gets used little in our organization. The licensing behavior has changed and I am trying to understand if something is broken or if a recent installation updated the behavior. I inquired through my VAR but have received ZERO feedback.
We have one seat of AutoCAD running from a networked license. The FlexLM licensing also takes care of a couple other CAD packages.
In the past, our single seat license would allow different versions of AutoCAD to be running simultaneously on different machines. For example, I could have AC2009 running on my machine and someone else could have AC2010 running at the same time on their machine.
We are on subscription and recently I began downloading the latest versions of AutoCAD. I created an install image for AC2011 and deployed on my machine. All worked fine. I was expecting to deploy on the other machines but had not scheduled yet. 2012 and 2013 are next.
In the past few days we discovered that the licensing server no longer allows different versions to be open at the same time. Regardless of which version is launched, we can only have one open anywhere on the network. After that we get the -4.132.0 error.
So my question is basically: was the licensing scheme broken before and we were getting a bit of a bonus or is it broken now and we should still be allowed to open different versions simultaneously?
Thanks in advance.
