Default Revit Duct 'Free Size' - Incorrect in Section?

One of our users has come across an issue with tagging rectangular duct in section. Our tag currently uses “Free Size” as the parameter for duct size values. In section Revit does not flip the values of “Free Size” as it correctly does for the out of the box “Size” parameter. The measurable dimension in the view (plan or section) should be the first dimension (value) in the tag. In using the “Size” parameter though it gives the overall size of the duct and does not subtract the lining, so we prefer to use "Free Size".

So for example, as 24" x 12" duct tags 24" x 12" in plan and should tag 12" x 24" in section. The Free Size parameter does not 'flip' correctly.

Is there some setting we might be missing? Or is this something to be corrected in future releases?

    Thank you,

In elevation views where we only see one dimension of a duct Free Size does appear to suffer from failing to switch between WxH and HxW. In other views they both display width x height. In section or elevations that show the profile of a duct both dimensions are measurable and each parameter is consistent, they default to Width x Height.

It does seem like an oversight on their part.

Thank you, Steve. Didn't want to correct with size - lining special tag if we could avoid. For now, we'll correct with a tag type option in the Duct tag. Submitting to Autodesk, maybe can be corrected in a future release.

    Appreciate the quick response

Has anyone come up with a work-around for this issue? beyond just using text?
