Default AEC walls break when created as a block

    I'm using ACA 2011.

I am developing typical unit room floor plans consisting of AEC walls and doors. The problem I am having is that when i go to edit the block in the block editor or edit block in place, during the edit, everything looks fine. However, when I exit the block, all the wall cleanups breaks and some if not all the doors migrate to different locations.

    Thanks.

How are you handling demising Walls (walls between units)? Are they part of the blocks or drawn directly in the host file? If the former, are you getting overlapping Walls where two blocks adjoin?

I searched old threads and haven't come across anyone having similar issues. Do people usually not block unit plans composed of aec walls and doors?

Anyways, to answer your question, I am coming across this problem before I even xref in the unit file. My demising walls are composed of lines so there are no overlaps. Some thing is getting messed up with the aec walls and doors after it is converted to block.

I uploaded two images. image 1 shows the block edit with everything in place. 2nd image, when i close the block edit the closet door jumps.
In this case only one door jumped, often enough all the doors jump.

I see the text has mirrorred in the second image. Any chance that the block in question was mirrored from the original orientation?

It has been a while, but I recall some years back reading about people having issues when trying to externally reference unit plans and mirrorring them for opposite hand units.

yeah, the particular example was a mirrored block.

So you think that mirroring the block is the culprit? If I want opposite hand units I need to make it as a different block?

Again, this isn't even externally referencing yet. This is just enter and exiting the block edit in the same file.

I think I saw where they had addressed that issue, but I am not sure if that was before or after ACA 2011 came out.

I have often done units in the same file, blocked them and mirrored for copying around. If I ref edit I need to make sure to choose a non mirrored copy as the mirrored version will do what you say every time. If only mirrored one available, change the -1 to a 1 in the properties pallete, edit, save and then remirror by resetting the -1.

Thanks. That seems to do the trick.
