    Question Image frame behavior

I have several images attached to my drawing. Currently they all exist on my IMAGE layer and I load and unload them as needed in the reference manager. My problem is that the unloaded images still display frames and the empty frames are distracting. My IMAGEFRAME variable is set to 2. Would it be better to put each image on its own layer so I can freeze the unwanted frames, or is there another way to manage this?

well, you can set IMAGEFRAME to 0 if you want to not see them, or ignore them -- at a setting of 2 they won't plot, but can still be selected even when unloaded.

Yes, I know I can turn all the frames off, but I still need the frame on for the active image so I can manipulate it. I hoped someone who works with multiple images would have some ideas to share.

One idea would be to change the color of the layer they are on to something very close to your background color. if you are using a black drawing background, then color 39 would be pretty non-distracting but still visible. It won't affect plotting of the image

Creating separate layers for each attached image just to be able to freeze it does not make sense to me, but YMMV

I generally place each image on its own layer but that's not going to be practical in all situations.

I do the same, it's the only way to have an Image visible in one viewport and not in another. I prefer to control visibility of everything with Layer States. 'Course I like that there's always more than one way to do anything in AutoCAD.
