Exclamation Creating holes in adaptive component family

Is there a way to create holes in an adaptive component? Preferable after it's inserted into a project. I've tried several methods but no luck.

    Thanks,
    Bernie

Could you be more specific and/or post a screen shot?

Thanks for the reply. I've uploaded two images. I don't have to do it with an adaptive component but nothing else I tried came close. The hole are three rows of 5" holes staggered. The first row needs to start 5" on center from the edge. Im not sure an adaptive component is the correct method and am willing to go another route if I have to.

The holes can be put in the adaptive component but I can't control their locations when I'm placing it in the project.

Thanks again. I really appreciate the help. Thanks!

Do you really need to model the "nuts and bolts" of the structure? Is that not what details are for?

Point reference can be set to a specified location. Just need to figure out the array(which you cant do in massing). maybe a nested family

That's great thanks but the holes need to maintain 5"oc from the edge. I had something similar to yours but couldn't get the holes to land where I wanted them. I really appreciate you taking the time to look at this!
