Question Is it possible to read Civil 3D 2014 Points in Autocad LDT 2007 or earlier

We recently began upgrading from LDT 2007 to Civil3d 2014. We have several subcontractors that will not be upgrading just yet. Our problem is that once you save 2014 file to 2007 the points disappear in LDD and you can't attach the 2007 file to a project to reattach them either. We are in need of a temporary fix to this problem. Does anyone have any ideas? Could use some help. Thanks.

As a temporary workaround -- use the "Export to LandXML" option on the Output ribbon tab. You can then uncheck everything except points, and send them out to the recipient can import them.

Caveat with exporting point groups: LandXML will support exporting point groups, but NOT the definition!! only the point group name and list of points that were in that group at the moment of export.
