I am working with Lidar points. When I create a surface from the point cloud, it is selecting everything. buildings, trees, etc.. How do i get it to just use the ground points in the lidar data?

Is there anyway to isolate the ground points within the lidar data?
I do not know of any way to only select the ground points. If you have a known range of elevations, you could limit your surface to fall within that range.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

Hi Opie, are you using the point cloud style dialogue and setting the classification to ground? Then in the points tab, set assign color by classification - I was under the impression this filters out all but the selected classification, then when I create a surface from it we have bare earth topo. Is this not correct? If there is no function to filter out the classifications I need then I'm afraid I won't find it very useful at all.
