Stair Body Modifier Display Issues

Now I'm having yet another problem with the AEC stairs. It took me FOREVER to get the stairs to display correctly. Now I'm trying to add a body modifier and they get all screwed up again. When I add the extension to the stringers at the bottom of the stairs, the whole bottom portion of the stairs disappear in the top view. they show up fine in Model, but not any of the other top views. Please help
