Hi, after opening the first drawing in a session any attempt to open another file will cause a crash. I have run the repair tool and deleted my "profile". I'm wondering if it needs a fresh install. many thanks in advance.

...and New or Old problem?
Did you change your OS?
better layout for the process.
* You open AutoCAD LT 2009 from the desktop shortcut OR from windowz explorer (dwg launcher)
* You run the open command and choose a drawing.
*drawing opens and runs ok.
*run the open command a second time and a crash will happen before dialogue box opened.
I haven't tried running with Filedia = 0. For a while opening with the icon top left stopped this from happening but 2 days ago this changed.
Every drawing created within the company and external is affected. To recreate this is easy as it happens every time.
So it doesn't look like the OPEN command dialog box is the problem, since the first time you use the open command, it functions OK. Is that correct?
If you want to dig in deep, take a look at this: http://bit.ly/18Sd7XZ and use Process Monitor to "watch" file and registry activity in real time - start the monitoring and then do the steps that you know will make it crash.
This might give you a clue as to what is going on...

I have yet to find the cause as Acad is acting like a naughty child
When the process monitor is running no crashes occur, forget to turn it on and crash after crash.
I'm very confused.
So what PC/OS system or network changes took place two days ago? Something did, coordinate with your I.T. and explore WIndows' System Restore for clues.
