Default Evenly spacing words along a line. Not letters.

    Civil 3D 2014
I work for a survey company. Much to my disliking one of the tasks is to spread text along a line to describe a feature.

If I have a chain wire fence and the line is 50m long then the text should read CHAIN (25m space) WIRE (25m space) FENCE

    Any of the editors I use end up making the text look like C H A I N W I R E F E N C E with the individual letters spaced evenly over the 50m.
Nothing I can find will keep the whole words together.

The present method is to type the text and then start hitting the space bar between the words to have them at the correct spacing.

Any thoughts or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

What tool are you using to label the line / feature?

You can use a line label style to create the top label. You would need three text elements within the style. You can set each style to anchor at your desired location.

    thanks Opie,

Plain old Dtext. Also tried Mtext.
I have not used labels before, but from what I read I would have to adjust the label style every time I add it to a line? If I could edit the label by using grips in the label style and grips (start mid end) of the line that could be an option.
No two lines would ever be the same length and also the number of words may change.

In a label style you have the ability to anchor to the start / middle / end of lines & curves.
