Default Foundation Bottom Lines Not Showing

Can someone please help me with this Structural Foundation Family

    Families attached...

I have tried everything I can think of and I cannot get the bottom of the foundation to show.
I only want to see the bottom of the footing, not the lines where it meets the slab.
I have set the Revit.ini file to [Graphics]HiddenSlabEdge=Itself

I can override the lines but then I get the lines for the top and bottom
I can't find anyway to just show the bottom lines as hidden.

The position of the foundation or the properties of the slab or the view range make no difference. Even if the slab is hidden or transparent???

I can add symbolic lines to the family but then they don't mitre when I have footings that join and intersect.

    Any ideas please.

One way you could do this is adjusting the Visibility Settings for the extrusion shape so it doesn't show the extrusion in plan, then drawing Hidden Symbolic Lines along the bottom lines.

I have updated your family here: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resi...611A665A%21345

Please let me know if this is how you wanted it to look.

    Cheers

    Thanks for the reply Spenner.
First, you don't actually need to set the visibility to hide in plan in order for symbolic lines to show.
As per my original post I can easily place symbolic lines in the family however they do not automatically mitre and join with the model geometry when the footings join and/or intersect.

for interior turn down slab ribs, I like to use special slab edge profile, if you place a model line on the slab you can add the special slab edge to the interior of slab so it is not at the slab edge. bottom lines should miter at corners and intersections. just create the special profile and add to your project.
to edit layout just move the model lines, which also give you something to add dimension to.
you can add exterior slab edge profile and join the interior ribs, if both are same depth then it will miter intersection.

    Thanks dmahan,
That may well work, however then it would not be a foundation object, which it should be for many reasons not the least of which is scheduling and phasing?

I think you will have problems with using foundation object, needs to be a beam object to miter intersections. You could take the pan joist family and give it a new name and modify parameters and other family parameters, if you add something in the family description you should be able to filter schedules. I do this for grade beams and structural columns for drilled piers. A bit of a pain, but should work until more object family types options are added to foundation objects.

    See attached example.

This has been a problem since day dot.
The way we got around it at one place I worked was to actually create a family for the mitre. (A chamfered piece) that you place in addition. Basically place the foundation as an isolated foundation, then place the chamfer. You can join them, it all schedules properly, and you can just hide the chamfer by it being a different family you can "select all in view" and then "hide element".
Try this family I am pretty sure this is the one. If not use it as a basis to create yourself one in the correct family category
