Block lineweight display too thick

I have been witnessing a peculiar phenomena:
We have many block definitions that are present in our drawings, which are queried into a AutoCAD Map 200i session. The weird thing is that sometimes the block lineweight seems very thick. The blocks are all defined using BY BLOCK. The display issue is intermittent. It seems to be tied to the use of certain blocks that have been either converted from a Hitachi Cadcore system with attribute info, or in one instance, a North Arrow with attributes that was designed to be used in paper space. At times I can see two blocks side by side that are the exact same, but one will be "fat" and the other normal.

My "cure" has been to track down "non-standard" block insertions and explode, purge and regen. This takes care of the issue. When I examine the "non-standard" blocks, I don't see anything that isn't the same as the standard block definitions, other than the fact that, so far, they have all had attribute info tied to them.

Does anyone know of an issue that may cause this, or have any suggestions about prevention?

could you post a couple of the blocks that are giving you trouble.....so we can have a look at them....
