    Default Not snapping to Hatches

Is there a setting that will allow me to not snap to a hatch object?

I am working in a sheet file, that has several model xrefs attached, and in those model files, I have several hatch objects (concrete pattering, steel, etc). When I annotate in the sheet file, my Insertion Osnap hits the insertion point of those hatches (which is the xref 0,0,0 point) and my leaders, dim lines, etc jump off my page.

Is there some way to exclude the hatch from my osnaps? I am not talking about -osnaphatch or anything, just a way to ignore it all together. I need the Insertion osnap on, as I am snapping other things to the insertion point of blocks, but it gets annoying to have to keep toggling it on/off as I annotate.

It gets especially irritating when I need to Otrack off of something.

    Thanks.

Go to Options » Drafting tab, and under 'Object Snap Options' towards the bottom, enable the checkbox option "Ignore hatch objects".

Nope, that's the Osnaphatch, that will allow snapping to the linework that makes up the hatch. That was one of the first things I tried.

Sorry - saw that right after I posted. If the hatch is a part of the xref, then the Osnap is going to recognize the insertion point of that Xref regardless of which embedded objects you hover over. Is the hatch on a layer that you can temporarily turn off or freeze?

NP. turning off the hatch layer is one of the several work-arounds I use. It just gets old real fast.

Not helping with the original question but PROBE.LSP helps to identify objects and their layers within xrefs which might help you a little.

There is a version of it here; use the modified version in post #9.
[This may or may not be the same as the version I have used in the past.]

Not sure if this works the same as the options in the drafting settings.

But have you tried setting the OSOPTIONS system variable to 3?

Just played around with it, looks like the same setting stuff as osnaphatch, just with the addition of a Z depth option.

Not what I was needing, but I still loaded it. I'll have to use it for a while, but it looks like fun. Thanks for posting that.

When you are prompted to pick a point use the insert osnap override (by typing INS at the command prompt, from the object snap toolbar or from the shift-right click menu, not a running osnap) hover near the point you want to select and hit the tab key. This will cycle through available insert points that you can select.

Otherwise I would just freeze the hatch layer using LAYFRZ.
