    Default Movable Constraint?

Hello, I'm fairly new to the AUGI forums and I've only been using Auto Cad Inventor Pro for about a year.

My question is is their a way to set a constrain on two objects then pull one object out of the way and have the other object go through. I guess a good example would be like a gate with a bolt that goes in front of it to hold it shut or a swiveling container with a square box built into the side where a bolt would drop through to hold it in place. So basically is there a way to set a constrain that is not set up as if the objects are given planes and just the surfaces are affected. I have gotten this to world with contact sets but is there a more permanent way to do this.

    Default Re: Movable Constraint?

Do you mean AutoCad, or Inventor ? Totally not the same thing.
In Inventor, regular constraints with limits should be what you are looking for. Choose the constraint type wisely (sometimes a Face mate and an Angle mate are better than an Insert, for example), and you should be able to do anything you want. If you have 2014, the joint command was created to deal with motion, so that might be even better.

In Autocad, I've abandoned the idea of constraining anything quite some time ago. I find the command buggy, unpredictable, all around unpleasant.

    Happy cadding !
