Unhappy Transparency issues with Navisworks Manage 2014

hi all - i'm working on a couple projects with navisworks manage 2014. i can't understand why some of the objects allow me to adjust the transparency, and others do not. most of the time it's the Architectural model that i can't adjust. if i highlight the object and right-click, then go down to transform - transparency, then slide the bar over to about 60%, nothing happens. then i go into the properties of the item, and it has a material property for transparency, which says 0.00. why can't i adjust it within navisworks?

I've never experienced this but, is there any chance that you have the item or object appended anywhere else and one is transparent but the other is not? This has caught me a few times.
Hide the item and see if there is another coexisting with it.
Control and Z will undo (^+Z)

Making the assumption that the Arch model came from Revit. Try and change from Autodesk Rendering to Presenter in the home > tools tab and check the render mode under the render style tab. Full render with Autodesk rendering will override any of the graphics display options e.g. transparency.

yes, the Arch model came from Revit, as did the Piping model. and in Navisworks on the Home tab> Tools i changed from Autodesk Rendering to Presenter. that gives you control of the transparency, but you lose the detail. for example the CMU walls changed from having the grout line pattern to solid grey walls, but now i can make them transparent. it's a give and take, but it works.
