Default Feature Lines to Surfaces without Being A Break Line

Is there a way to add feature lines to a surface but not as a break line?

I miss the Land desktop tools that allowed you to digitize in contours and offset them. I know that you can create grading objects for like basins and such. But sometimes I wish I could quickly draw in a contour, tie it in, do any trimming of any contours, and then update my surface with the new contour information.

Unless I am totally missing something.... which wouldn't surprise me....

What's the issue with using the feature line as a break line?

When they are added to the surface they don't show as drawn. So, I draw my feature line how I want the contour to look. Then I add to my proposed surface as a break line and it understands the change in grade but doesnt draw the contours correctly.

so, how about drawing in your design contour as a 2d pline at an assigned elevation, using the 'create feature line from stepped offset' set the offset distance to the slope you want, and the elevation difference for you contour interval, and rock on.

You should be able to add those to your surface as 'contours'

to make breaklines appear correctly as contours you need to add elevation points, especially on the curves.
Adding 3D polylines as countours is good and fast but a pain if you need to edit.

try not to confuse feature lines with polylines. feature lines can have several different elevations on the same line. Polylines can only have 1 elevation for the whole lines no matter how many vertices. obviously i'm talking about 2d polylines and not 3d ones.
feature lines are basically advanced 3d polylines.
