Add stairs to a balcony family

I am trying to create a balcony family. The floor is done and now I am trying to add a railing but can't find any way to do this.
Can some one help?

If you are creating a family, you can't use system families like floors, roofs, ceilings, stairs, ramps, or railing. For repetitive things like balconies, I've done them three ways:

1. Curtain Panel families - If they are vertically stacked balconies, you can place a curtain wall with one curtain panel per floor. Pros - super easy to place and update. Cons - everything in the family including railings has to be modeled with basic geometry.
2. Links - Create each type of balcony as a separate project, then link them in. Pros - you can use system families. Cons - links require extra coordination for documentation and graphics.
3. Groups - Build one balcony in the main project file, then copy it where you need it. Pros - you can use system families, everything is in the main file. Cons - groups can be troublesome. One suggestion is that for every wall you use in the balcony group, make sure you disallow join on the ends that would touch the building. No wall inside the group should try to join outside the group. Openings are the same: don't place an opening inside a group that is hosted by a wall outside a group and vice versa.
