Default AutoCAD 2013 not responding and missing dialog boxes

    Okay all you wizards,

Here's the issue. Several days ago I noticed that I would get a "not responding" when switching between model tab and layout tab. It would also show up when switching between drawing 1 and drawing 2 (multiple load in one session of AutoCAD).
Today I found that when using (single key stroke) commands that dialog boxes would not work. I tried the hpdlgmode command for hatch and nothing changes. I noticed that the same problem exists for insert and wblock. when I type in "open" I do get the dialog box.

I don't think I inadvertently changed a setting, but you all know how that goes...

I tried cmddia and filedia as well still no fix. Last week all was working prefect??

AutoCAD 2013 service pack 2 on windows 7 - 64 bit (4 gig ram) dual monitors and Design Master HVAC & Plumbing add on.

    Thanks in advance...

    George

nothing changes? perhaps the missing dialogs are simply displaying off screen. Start the command, then hit <ALT>+Spacebar followed by M, and see if you can use the arrow keys to drive the missing dialogs back into sight

    CADTAG,

As an added note, (I will use the hatch command) I type in H and enter, here's the command lines as I get them..

    Command: H
    bhatch
    Current hatch pattern: ANSI31
    Specify internal point or [Properties/Select objects/draW boundary/remove Boundaries/Advanced/DRaw order/Origin/ANnotative/hatch COlor/LAyer/Transparency]: nil

Notice that there is a "nil" at the end of the command. Also, usually I would get a change to the ribbon bar showing the hatch ribbon which no longer appears.

    allrightythen

sounds like someone has written some shortcut LISP routines

and if you actually key in the real command name.... BHATCH for example, what happens then?

    cadtag,

Thanks for the quick responses. I don't know what I did, both to cause the problem or fix it. Everything is back up and working all of a sudden. Only thing I can think of was that I just opened 6 drawings at the same time and did a "publish" to create PDF's, now everything is working again???

    Thanks again,

    George

It's good that it's fixed but 4 Gb of ram really is marginal.

Look for a malicious acad.lsp and acadiso.lsp in c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\autodesk\yourproduct\enu\support. Also look in your drawing folders for such code.
