Default unable to load disabled alarm pull into MEP Model

    Hi there,

i have just downloaded a generic Pull cord switch for my revit project,
for some reason i cant get it to load into my revit MEP model which is linked to the arch model,
it comes up with a no entry sign ?
it will allow me to load it into the architects model but not the MEP,

anyone got any info that will help me solve this ??
    many thanks

    Dave

Sorry for the delay of response! The problem is likely because the Family that you downloaded is "Wall-Hosted", where ideally, it should be "Face-Based". The difference is that a Wall-Hasted family must host specifically to a Wall element, whereas the Face-Based can host to any type of face. When you link in a project, the Wall that belong to it are not actually considered "Walls", thus your inability to place them in your MEP Project.

I would recommend check to see if there is a Face-Based version of the Family available for download. If there is not, then follow these steps to convert this Family into a Face-Based Family.

    1. Create a new Project with a Wall. Place an instance of this Family on it. Save the Project somewhere.

    2. Start another new Project and link the previous Project into it.

    3. Use the Copy/Monitor Tools to create a Copy in the current Project. You can now open/export this new "Face-Based" Family and load it into your MEP Project.
