Default Revit crashes on Export and Printing

    Hi guys,

I have had some serious issues, been trying to solve this for a month now with no luck, autodesk also seems to have no answers. My Revit 2014 keeps crashing/gives an error message when i try to print or export files. i have re-installed it several times with no luck. I am using windows 7, i dont know if there is a problem with the OS. Any clues or answers? Below is the error i get when trying to print or export. Any help will be welcomed.

I'd suspect this is a Memory / RAM ( or lack of ) problem.

What is the Revit file size?

What are your computer specs? ( esp. RAM )

Make sure you Close Hidden Views as well, when trying to print or export.

Try setting Detail Level to Coarse, turn off unneccesary elements in VG, etc.

Do you have any Cad files inserted or linked? Or Raster Images?

Im with Cliff on that. Looks more like a hardware problem.

Did you try printing when in a Draftin View with all other view close?

How much hard drive space do you have available?
Clean up everything you can to free up at least 10 Gig.
Neither Windows nor Revit are very good about cleaning up after themselves.
In Windows Explorer, on the address bar at the top, type in
    %TEMP%
    (case is not significant)
Delete everything you see in there. Its best to do this when you don't have any applications open, but if there a few files that Windows complains about, just Skip them.
While you're there, go one folder up. (That will be something like C:\Users\you\AppData\Local). Then click through Autodesk\Revit\yourRevitversion\Journals. If you don't care about keeping your Journal files, just delete everything. There will probably be backup files of families in there you don't need.
    Finally, look in C:\Windows\Temp
    Same treatment. Delete everything.

Cleaning up all of those temp files can make things work better. Even if you're OK on free disk space, the temp folders can "fill up"

I've had similar issues when trying to print/plot to a device that didn't have current drivers. I would create a PDF instead and then print/plot from that.

Are you also printing from a detached copy? Is this happening with all views, or a certain view? I agree, it does sound like a video card issue. Also, make sure your BIOS is updated. Good luck!

Check for recent Windows updates. We had the same problem and it only started after Windows updates that were installed on 13th and 14th August - Uninstalling the updates solved the problem
